IN SCHOOL RULES FOR THE CONDUCT OF SACs 2011

These rules have been written as a suggestion for the conduct of in class SACs. They are mainly common sense and mostly come straight from the VCAA rules for the June and November VCE examinations, with some modification for school arrangements. It is intended that these rules provide a framework for  students to become more familiar with the examination environment. They will not always be applicable in all classes and may therefore need to be modified accordingly eg. Prac classes.

  1. No student may cheat or assist another student to cheat or take any action that gives or attempts to give him or her an unfair advantage in a test.
  2. Students must obey or observe all instructions or directions given during the test by the supervisor.
  3. Students may bring only approved materials or equipment for any given test into the test room.
  4. No student may communicate with another student in the test room while the test is being conducted.
  5. No student may by any act or omission cause any nuisance, annoyance or interference to any other student. If the student does not comply with an instruction given by a supervisor, then that student will not be entitled to complete the test and must leave the test room immediately.
  6. Mobile phones and electronic communications devices, such as organizers, dictionaries and computerized watches, which are capable of storing, receiving or transmitting information or electronic signals are not permitted in an examination room under any circumstances. iPods/MP3 players are not allowed.
  7. Students must not write or draw anything offensive on any of the test materials.
  8. No food or drinks, other than water are allowed in the test room. Students may bring in water to the test providing that it is in a clear plastic bottle with the label removed. The water bottle must have a secure lid and should not be placed on the desk. Water bottles cannot be refilled or shared with other students during the test.
  9. If a student wishes to talk to the supervisor they should raise their hand.
  10. It is the responsibility of the student to immediately notify the supervisor if the correct test paper has not been provided or if the test paper has missing pages.
  11. During reading time, students may study the directions for the test, the question book and a dictionary if a dictionary is permitted in the test. A student must not begin to write or mark his or her test paper in any way, or use a calculator until the signal to write is given.
  12. A student must cease writing when the signal to do so is given but must not leave his or her place until directed by the supervisor. A warning signal will be given five minutes before the scheduled completion of writing time for the test.
  13. At the end of the test, students must remain silent and in his or her place until all response materials have been collected or if the supervisor directs students to leave the room.
